Seattle Socialist Sawant is Attempting to Resurrect Today The Amazon head tax voters killed
Kshama Sawant: “This is where you come in. If you want the Amazon Tax to become a reality, then we need you there at the City Council meeting!”Are only Socialists permitted to attend open public meetings?
COVID is a threat — but so is Socialism.
Today (Sunday), Seattle’s favorite socialist emailed her supporters inviting them to pack Monday’s council meeting so she can push her Job Killing Head Tax 2.0:
Kshama Sawant: “This is where you come in. If you want the Amazon Tax to become a reality, then we need you there at the City Council meeting!”
Read that again: “… we need you there at the City Council meeting!”
Why is she pushing to have her troops show up in person?
Because she knows normal people like you probably won’t attend.
Because she knows the Council will have a much harder time ignoring the people who are there.
Like a vulture, Sawant is swooping in to push her radical agenda.
And she will succeed … if the only people who show up are her socialist supporters.
How many of you have said: “We must fight socialism.”
But how can we fight if we’re not there?
I adamantly oppose Sawant’s Job-Killing Head Tax.
I spoke out forcefully against the earlier version: https://youtu.be/
Like then, I’m going to attend this council meeting (gloves, social distance, hand-sanitizer, etc).
Monday, April 6, 1:30pm-3:00pm, Seattle City Hall, 600 4th Ave, Seattle.
I’m willing to stand alone (I’ve done it before):
But we are stronger together.
Last week, we scored victories for our rights in Bellingham and Edmonds by showing up (Edmonds Beacon: About face: Prohibition on firearms is removed. Faced with increasing public outcry, the Edmonds City Council voted unanimously to remove the controversial part of the mayor’s emergency powers … Tim Eyman was one of the loudest opponents. He and a group of about 10 others spoke out against it … ‘It shows that emails aren’t enough, and that you need to actually get in their faces in order to get them to realize that these are serious issues.’).
Is the imposition of an economy-killing tax during Jay Inslee’s Lockdown a serious issue?
Kshama Sawant sure thinks so.
That’s why she’s calling for her troops to show up to back her up.
Are only Socialists permitted to attend open public meetings?
In Sunday’s edition, the Seattle Times wrote a scathing editorial: “Stop Seattle’s head-tax inanity” – “Bottom line, Seattle will see fewer jobs as it tries to rebuild if Sawant and Morales succeed. Then fewer will get jobs back at shuttered restaurants, empty stores, vacant hotels and idle construction sites. Don’t believe the fantasy Sawant and Morales are peddling. If Sawant and Morales get their tax approved by the council, employers will be even more wary of hiring in Seattle, and none of the Bezos bucks that Sawant is promising to dole out will be forthcoming.”
That’s tough and compelling.
But those words will be quickly forgotten when Sawant’s supporters — one after another after another — scream at the council in person that this massive tax increase is desperately needed.
“Attend the City Council meeting” she wrote.
If all the Socialists show up and all the people opposed to socialism stay home, who’s gonna win?
Absence = Surrender.
